稲盛和夫氏（京セラとKDDIの創業者、JALの名誉会長）は、私利私欲に端を発した願望であるならば、その成功は長続きしません。成功を持続させるには、描く願望や情熱がきれいなものでなければなりません、と述べておられる。
ここで言う、きれいな心で抱く願望とは、世のため人のために役立つという利他的な要素が含まれている願望のことである。私利私欲に基づく願望であれば、一時的な成功をもたらすかもしれないが、決して長続きはしない。利他的な要素を含んだ純粋な願望を持ち、ひたすら努力を続けることで、その願望を実現できるのだ。
ただ、その願望が実現するまでのタイムスパンがまちまちなので、結果が出るまでの辛抱が大変である。場合によっては３０年などの長期、時には自分が死ぬまでその結果が出ないこともあったりするらしい。非常に気の長い話ではあるが、「因果応報」を考えたときには、『あの世』まで含めて結果を見てみると、帳尻が合うとのことだ。なんともスピリチュアルな話に聞こえるが、現世で好き勝手、ワガママし放題であれば、あの世で報いを受けるということを念頭に、日々の努力を継続していくのがベストである。
Vol.49 Have a desire with a pure heart
Mr. Kazuo Inamori (Founder of Kyocera and KDDI, Honorary Chairman of JAL) says if a desire is originated in self-interest, the success will not last long. He also states that the desires and passions must be pure in order to be successful.
The desire from a pure heart is a desire that includes an altruistic element that serves the benefit of the world and people. A desire based on self-interest may bring temporary success, but it will never last long. A pure desire will be fulfilled with altruistic elements and hard work.
However, the time span to achieve that desire varies, so it often takes a lot of time to endure. Depending on the case, the result may not come out for a long time, such as 30 years, and sometimes until you die. What a very long time! Having said that, when you think about “causal retribution,” you can see that the results, including the “time after death,” are consistent. It sounds like a spiritual story, but it is best to continue making daily efforts, keeping in mind that if you sin in this world, you may be punished after you die.
